What is a 2A:10B:C fire extinguisher ?

 
 

You were probably told by an inspector that you need a 2A:10B:C fire extinguisher. In simple terms its a 5lb ABC fire extinguisher. This is the lowest rated fire extinguisher required for a building. You can purchase the lower rated extinguisher at any hardware/super store. You are still required to have your extinguisher certified, even if it's brand new.  We sell a higher rated extinguisher for close to the same price with installation and certification included. What size and type of extinguisher is right for my location ?

 
 

The most common fire extinguisher used is a 5lb ABC used for retail, office buildings, apartments, etc. But, there are several factors as to the size and type of extinguisher needed for your individual location. For example; High Pile Storage requires a minimum 10lb ABC. Large amounts of flammable liquids would require a 20lb ABC or larger. Metals such as magnesium and aluminum would require a 30lb Class D (Metal X). Give us a call for a FREE on-site walk through.
